253 | {{Notables Sticker|England, Notables}} == Biography == Robert, born in Middlesex about 1540, was eldest son of Sir Thomas Wroth (1516-1573) by his wife Mary, daughter of Richard, Lord Rich. He was admitted a pensioner of St. John's College, Cambridge, on 21 April 1553, but, owing to the religious changes consequent on the accession of Mary I, he left the university without a degree soon after his admission. Accompanying his father in his exile, he returned to England soon after the accession of Elizabeth I. He afterwards entered public life, and the rest of his career was devoted to politics and the administration of a large estate. He was elected for the first time to parliament for St Albans on 11 January 1563; he was returned for Trevena on 2 April 1571; he took his seat as member for the important constituency of Middlesex on 8 May 1572, and was re-elected to four later parliaments (23 November 1585, 4 February 1589, 7 October 1601, and 9 March 1604). Sir Robert married Susan, daughter and heiress of John Stonard of Loughton, through whom he acquired the estate of Loughton. He seems to have had at least four surviving sons:<ref>Wikipedia</ref> Sir Robert (1576?–1614) who married Lady Mary Wroth. John, who was admitted a student of the Inner Temple, 1596, was afterwards described as a captain, and succeeded to Durrants (also spelt Durants), the family's estate at Enfield in Middlesex,[3] Thomas. Henry, who is styled "of Woodbury in Herefordshire".[4] Sir Henry Wroth (died 1671), second son of Henry, Sir Robert's youngest son, acquired some fame as a royalist during the civil wars. == Sources == <references />* L. Daniel, Robert and Richard Gorsuch were still living. The will leaves us uncertain as to whether two other of her son John's older children viz. William Gorsuch and Katherine Whittby, to whose children, however, bequests are made by name, were still living. The following year William sold his property to John and mary SOTCHER, and took his family to St. George's Hundred, Newcastle County (in what became Delaware). Abigail and some of the children carried a certificate of removal dated 5 March 1713.[67] Children born after one parent's disownment were generally not recorded by the meeting. After William Jr.'s death intestate at the age of forty-three, his uncle Henry1 (#1) Paxson posted bond on 22 September 1719 and administered the estate. ''No more info is currently available. James was not the stereotypical well-behaved Quaker. He had an affair with Mary SCAIFE (born 10 August 1678, died before 1738), daughter of Jonathan Scaife, Justice of the Peace and Coroner (1697 and 1699). Both James and Mary were convicted of bastardy in 1695 in the Court of Common Pleas of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and fined, although Mary’s fine was later forgiven by William MARKHAM, Governor of Pennsylvania. Middletown Monthly Meeting also condemned James Heaton for having a child out of wedlock. Heaton denied it, as he also did in court. James and Mary Scaife never married. James married Ann GRIFFITH (daughter of John Griffith [d. 1713]) on 7 Fifth Month 1696 without his father’s blessing and not under the care of the meeting. He was disciplined 1 Eighth Month 1696 for disorderly marriage. He later acknowledged to marrying out of meeting in 1697, but continued to deny that he begat a child with Mary Scaife -- despite his court conviction for it. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~paxson/csp/Heaton.html :Note for consideration written by Syd Rumford, 3 April 2015: In the ''History of the Heaton Family'', it is stated that Mary Scaife had a son out of wedlock with James Heaton. The Heaton family stated the son's name was John, born born in 1690 and raised by his grandfather, Jonathan Scaife. None of this is substantiated by any reasonable evidence. What evidence there is from 1695 court records stating that Mary had a child with James Heaton, and her father Jonathan Scaife paid a fine of £10. James Heaton denied of having had a child with Mary. But a jury trial found that he was the father. The records do not specify the child sex, name, or if the child lived. And a birth date of 1690 and court records of 1695 is too much time elapsed, especially for a small Quaker community of Middletown, Pennsylvania. And there is no evidence of Jonathan Scaife supporting a grandson name John Heaton. ==Acknowledgements== This person was created through the import of Conley - Dye,_2010-11-16.ged on 24 May 2011.
