5112 == Biography ==
"ABRAHAM LUCKEN, or LUKENS, as his children spelled the name, was the tenth child and fifth son of Jan Lucken, the emigrant, and was born in or near Germantown, September 16, 1703. Reared in the faith of the Society of Friends and a birthright member of Abington Monthly Meeting, he proposed intentions of marriage before that meeting in March, 1727, with Mary, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Maurle, of Bristol township, Philadelphia county, and on April 27, 1727, the proposal was favorably acted upon by the Meeting.
They at once took up their residence on the 500 acres of land purchased by his father in 1709, in Towamencin township, Philadelphia, now Montgomery county, 300 acres of which Abraham inherited at his father's death in 1741. A certificate was granted by Abington Monthly Meeting, April 30, 1728, transferring the membership of Abraham Lucken and wife to Gwynedd Monthly Meeting, with which meeting some of their descendents still hold membership.
Thomas Maurle, father of Mary (Maurle) Lucken, brought a certificate to Abington Meeting from Gwynedd, May 28, 1716, for himself, his wife, son, and daughters. He was named as an Overseer for Germantown Meeting, by Abington Monthly Meeting, 1722, and was appointed to visit families of Friends in Germantown, 1725. This family is sometimes confounded with the Maule or Maul family founded in the same locality by Sarah, widow of Thomas Maule, of Salem, Massachusetts, and her children, 1731.
Mary (Maurle) Lucken died about 1770, and Abraham married (second), 1773, Elizabeth Walker, by whom he had two sons, Jonathan and Enos. His will bears date March 31, 1776, and mentions all his nine children."<ref>"Abraham Tyson Lucken, I." Geni. 5114 == Biography ==
"Gertrude [Door]'s father, Theiss Doors, baptized 12 September 1614 in the Catholic Church in Kaldenkirchen, was the son of Peter Dohrs/Doormans and Lysgen (Elizabeth) Grietes. Theiss' name appears in an article about the persecution and suffering of the Mennonites in the Julich-Berg Historical Journal under the surname Dahrs, Dahrmans, Peters and Peterschen which indicates that his father's name was Peter. Surnames in this period of time were not set. In fact, surnames were not required in the Netherlands (Kaldenkirchen lies almost on the border with the Netherlands) until 1811. Many families did adopt surnames around the 16th and 17th Centuries. Thus with Theiss' and Neess' children one will note that some of the children used their father's surname of Doors while several used the patronymic of Theissen.
Peter Doors was born about 1580 in Kaldenkirchen, the son of Tisken an gen Door, a Catholic who was born about 1550, and died in Kaldenkirchen on 19 March 1615. Peter Doors must have died shortly before 28 December 1638, perhaps of the bubonic plague which raged in that area during this period. Accordingly, Mennonite records of the village and parish of Kaldenkirchen in 1638 cite "Lysgen Daers (Doors) widow whose husband died a few days ago. Their property, after all debts are paid off out of principal, shall be worth about 36 Reichstalers..."<ref>The Descendants of Paulus and Gertrude Kusters of Kaldenkirchen, Germany and Germantown, Pennsylvania the first four generations by Jean M. White, Editor published by The Castor Association of America, pp.47-48</ref>

Heaton Family Home
The following is a message received from Carrie Jackson, who is a Heaton descendant.
"My family took a vacation to Waterford Va. In Loudoun County this summer. This area is preserved as a national heritage site. This is the front line of our families abolitionist past. this was the only county in Virginia not to succeed from the union. The rest of Virginia did and greatly pressured the Quaker's here. They were detained, arrested, and beaten. They were taken prisoner and despite this, the county remained strong and worked with the German community of Fredericksburg nearby to remain true to their beliefs. (working together with these Germans is how many Quakers and Germans married). I took many photos of the Paxon family homes which still remain here preserved, I will have to find them and send some to you. The only Union regiment in Virginia came from here and they worked as spy's to undermine the Confederacy."
