8752 My 4th great-grandparents, Andrew and Mary Palmer Keyser, were among the earliest settlers here in Belmont County and they had 13 children. So far we have identified 94 grandchildren and hundreds of other descendants.Questions, comments, corrections and additions are always welcomed. Mennonite ANDREW KEYSER m. MARY PALMER

ANDREW KEYSER, believed to be descended from Dirck Keyser, was born October 15, 1759, (most likely in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA) and died May 1835 in Belmont County, OH. Andrew married Henry Palmer’s daughter MARY PALMER on December 27, 1778, likely in Washington County PA. Mary was born April 22, 1760 and she died on the 12th of June 1844. They migrated to Belmont County sometime around 1800, settling in Mead Township and farming there.

Andrew is buried in a cemetery along Ramsey Road (Old Dixon Myers farm) in Section 14, Belmont County, Mead Township (Keyser Cemetery in findagrave). Mary is buried alongside her husband.

1. SARAH KEYSER, born January 2 1780, Pennsylvania; died 1850 Belmont County, OH. (Married Christopher Hinkle). One daughter Margaret married Samuel Wise.

Christopher Hinkle Died Apr. 1, 1861 In his 84 yr.Sarah, Wife of Christopher Hinkle, Died Feb. 8, 1850, Aged 70 yrs 16 dys.
2. HANNAH KEYSER, born 1781, Pennsylvania; died young. NOTE: Possible, per the Mennonite records above, that Hannah married a Thomas Kirkland, possibly in Pennsylvania.

3. WILLIAM KEYSER, born 1783; died young.
4. WILLIAM KEYSER II, born May 27, 1784, Pennsylvania; died 1856 Belmont County OH. Married Margaret Workman and had 10 children together.
5. ANDREW KEYSER, JR., born Sept. 28, 1786; died 1814; married NANCY WILLIAMS on March 14, 1811.
6. JESSE KEYSER, born Jan. 16, 1788; died June 14, 1825. Married Nancy Dunfee on Dec. 4, 1807. They had 11 children.
7. MARY "Polly" KEYSER, born March 8, 1792; died 1885; m. JOSHUA SHAHAN Nov. 30, 1809, Belmont Co, OH
8. THOMAS KEYSER, born Oct. 4, 1794; died July 29, 1882; m. Susanna Allender. Had 12 children. "Thomas Keyser, Died July 29, 1882, Aged 87 yrs 9 mos 25 days". This grave is located on the farm that Thomas and his wife Susanna Allender Keyser owned.

9. JANE KEYSER, born August 2, 1797; married GEORGE O. BLAIR.

10 and 11. Twins born April 25, 1800 in Pennsylvania:
ISAAC KEYSER, d. 1868 Ohio; m. (1) MARY ANN AMBLER; m. (2) REBECCA STEENROD; Isaac died Valentine's Day, 1868. Mary and Isaac had 8 children, and Rebecca and Isaac had 8 more children!!
JACOB KEYSER, d. 1871; m. (1) HESTER; (2) MARGARET (nee DUNFEE) MYERS. Jacob died 1871.
12. ELIZABETH KEYSER, born July 1802; married JOHN SCOTT, 1822, Belmont Co, OH. 9 children.
13. [[Keyser-18|HENRY PALMER KEYSER]], born November 23, 1805; died. June 16, 1883; m. [[Bell-347|EMMELINE "AMY" BELL]] 1825 (said to be 1/2 Native American). Henry and Amy operated a farm near Wegee, Belmont County, OH, and had nine children. Henry died on January 16, 1883 and is buried in the Keyser Cemetery Belmont County, OH on the old Dixon Myers farm in Sec. 14, Mead Township. One of their daughters was Nancy J. Keyser, born March 22, 1844 and died young on December 24, 1850.
