- == Biography == William Coale/Cole was born about 1628 (alternate 1633) in either Anne Arundel, Maryland or Devonshire, England. He is the son of [[Cole-17017|William Cole]] and [[Beck-2583|Sarah Beck]]. He passed away about 1705 in Maryland.
'The Founders of Anne Arundel and Howard Counties' Chapter III, 'The Quakers' describes Thomas and William Cole making open confession's of the truth, where it is stated, 'the latter, referring to William Cole, became a Quaker preacher in 1662 (where his birth date on this profile is assumed) was imprisoned at Jamestown for violating the statues.
Further it states, "...in 1657, before the arrival of Cole and Thurston, the planting of Quakerism had commenced and Preston, Berry and the more sober-minded citizens, listened gladly to the tenets of the society."

According to Mackenzie, William Cole the emigrant, settled in Anne Arundel Co., and was a member of the Society of Friends.
