Birth of Daughter Emma Viola Keyser (1866–1952) on 24 FEB 1866 in Webster Twp, Marshall Co. occurred just 8 months after they wed. Ten months later their second child Elmer Amos Keyser (WWI)(1867–1926) was born on 14 DEC 1867 in Limestone, WV (or Ohio?).

'''UNION PRIVATE IN CIVIL WAR''' John was a Private in the Sixth Regiment of West Virginia Infantry Volunteers, from which he was discharged in June 1865. John Love fought for the Union in the Civil War for almost three years (see his Graves Registration Card below), and his brothers William and James were part of the Confederate troops. Family tradition says that John Love helped his brothers escape from a military prison and then suffered his own imprisonment for that offense.
