== Biography ==
Sarah Paxson was the eldest child and only daughter of [[Paxson-12|James Paxson]] and his second wife [[Gurden-2|Jane Gurden]]. She was baptized October 29, 1671 in Marsh Gibbon in Buckinghamshire. The Paxson family were Quakers, and when Sarah married John Burling<ref>also seen:Borley, Bunting</ref>, she did so out of unity with the Friends. In August of 1692 when asked why, Sarah replied that "her father would not have unity with her marriage". Sarah's second husband was James Kirkham (or Kirkman). She did not have children with either husband.<ref>Thompson-Stahr. Sarah Paxson, page 27</ref>
