She was probably born in Woodbridge, NJ where the family had settled. She first married [[Thorne-758|William Penn Thorne]] in 1729. The couple had five children together before William died in 1735. Mary remarried reportedly to her second cousin Joseph Fitz Randolph, with whom she had three more children. Her second husband died before 1744 when Mary married a third time to [[Horseman-13|Marmaduke Horseman]] in 1744. He died in 1748/49. Mary married a fourth time to [[Jackson-2790|James Jackson Jr]] in 1749. James died the following year in 1750. Mary then married a fifth and last time to [[Fitz Randolph-xx|Jacob Fitz Randolph]].
